Brief Metro Chapter History

According to charter member, Richard P. Sills (BCA#1533), the Metro Chapter of BCA was born in 1974.

Richard and other Buick fans from the D.C. metropolitan area wanted to form a closer chapter to attend than the nearest one in Baltimore (the B.O.O.M.Chapter).
Bill Freeman was the first director. Early annual all-Buick shows were located at:


Otho Williams Buick of Suitland, MD
Larry Buick of Arlington, VA
Peacock Buick of Falls Church, VA
Covington Buick of Silver Spring, MD
Fields Buick of Hyattsville, MD


Since 1996 our annual show was moved to the Montgomery College campus in Rockville, MD. Since many members belonged to multiple GM clubs and to increase attendance we switched to a B.O.P. (Buick-Olds-Pontiac) show in 1999. The show was cohosted by the D.C. area Oldsmobile club (Capitol City Rockets) as they lost two dealership sponsors when GM killed the Oldsmobile. Since 2000 our cohosted show has enjoyed an "All-GM" format which is unique to the area and has a loyal following. We  now enjoy sponsorship by the Auto Tech Dept. at Montgomery College.
